DAY 1
Welcome to our Frequenza Festival!
The opening day sets the stage with an awe-inspiring tribute to the three titans of classical music —the three B’s: Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms. A captivating program unfolds, exploring the brilliance of these musical giants through unique arrangements and masterful performances.
Beginning with Beethoven’s 7 Variations for Piano and Cello in E-flat major on the aria ‘Bei Männern welche Liebe fühlen’, reimagined for piano and flügelhorn by the renowned duo Sergei Nakariakov and Maria Meerovitch.
Next, we experience a stunning reworking of Bach’s Goldberg Variations BWV 988. Excerpts from this monumental work, arranged for string trio by Dmitry Sitkovetsky, will be brought to life by the virtuosic trio of Kevin Zhu, Roman Spitzer, and Jing Zhao, capturing its essence in a fresh and dynamic interpretation.
After intermission, the spotlight returns to Beethoven with his Piano Quartet No. 3 in C-Dur, performed by an exceptional ensemble: Kristóf Baráti, Roman Spitzer, Jing Zhao, and Maria Meerovitch.
The evening culminates in Brahms’ Trio for Horn, Violin, and Piano in E-flat major, Op. 40. A collaboration between Kristóf Baráti, Maria Meerovitch, and Sergei Nakariakov.
This opening concert promises to be a mesmerizing journey through the legacies of these three great composers, showcasing their genius in both familiar and inventive arrangements. In other words, the perfect beginning to our festival!
