Wilkinson live set, Milky Chance, The Subways
AWAKE, Romania’s first boutique festival, announces the first acts to take the stage at the second edition: Wilkinson live set, Milky Chance, The Subways, together with The Parlotones, Fink, Subcarpati and special guests Hanu’ cu Braga, Mihail, Satra B.E.N.Z. and more. In 2018, AWAKE takes place between the 17th and 19th august and returns to one of the most spectacular natural parks in Transylvania, The Teleki Estate in Gornesti, only 20 minutes from Tirgu Mures.
Wilkinson is one of the most popular DJs right now, his style is renowned for the mix of drum&bass dubstep and future jungle. Always present on the stages of the most important international festivals, this year, Wilkinson is coming to AWAKE with a live set for the first time in Romania. His debut album “Lazers Not Included” went to number one in the iTunes Dance charts in 10 countries and the hit song “Afterglow” had millions of views on YouTube and was played on air on the most important radio stations in the world. Wilkinson is known for his remixes, over time he had collaborations with huge names like Ed Sheeran, Major Lazer, Chase & Status and Nero.
Milky Chance is one of the most beloved German bands, their style combines indie, folk and alternative rock. Their hit “Stolen Dance” went to number one on the music charts of several countries like: Austria, Hungary, Sweden, France and many more. Among the band’s musical influences there are some big names form the music industry: Bob Marley, Ray Charles or the Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist, John Frusciante. After the huge success of their first album, “Sadnecessary”, the German group launched their second record in 2017, it’s “Blossom” and it includes the single “Cocoon”.
With a style that combines several styles in an explosive manner: punk, alternative rock and indie, The Subways are well known for hit songs like “Oh, Yeah”, “Rock and Roll Queen” or “Kiss kiss bang bang”. The group opened for the Foo Fighters, played major festivals like Glastonbury, Lollapalooza or Leeds & Reading Festivals. The band has 5 albums and numerous Eps, their newest material is “Good Times” which includes several live versions of their singles.
The Parlotones is one of the most loved and awarded indie rock bands in South Africa. The band which was formed in 1998 declared that their style was strongly influenced by artists like R.E.M, Radiohead, The Smiths, The Cure or Jeff Buckley. The Parlotones played in the opening ceremony of the World Cup 2010 and opened for Coldplay on their 2011 South Africa Tour. Their album „A World Next Doors to Yours” became the bestselling rock album of the past decade in South Africa.
Fink is the stage name for the famous British artist Fin Greenall, he’s been in the music industry for over 20 years. FINK started his career as a DJ, later choosing to express himself with the help of a guitar and his voice. During his impressive career, he recorded 9 albums including a live record together with the famous Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra he’s also collaborated with the likes of John Legend, Amy Winehouse or Professor Green. Among his best-known songs in his repertoire are songs like “Looking Too Closely”, “Yesterday Was Hard on All of Us” or “Not Everything Was Better in the Past”.
For the second edition of Awake festival the stage will also welcome local acts, confirmed so far: Subcarpati with special guests Hanu’ cu Braga, Mihail, Satra B.E.N.Z., DJ Shiver, DJ Sauce, DJ Antenna and Detour.
AWAKE will take place 3 days betweek 17-19th of August 2018, on the Teleki Estate in Gornesti, Mures county, where festival goers will also be able to enjoy the areas and preferred activities of the first edition: outdoor forest library, the Feed Your Mind social platform, Treehouse Stage, Cinema under the bridge and many more. Also, in 2018 the organizers will have the second edition of the big art installations competition Artdoor, the resulting works will be exhibited inside the festival.
Tickets are available online at eventim.ro, but also in partner stores: OMV stations, Vodafone, Orange, Germanos stores and Diverta libraries. Until December 31st 2017 the 3 day passes can be purchased for the WISE BIRD price of 99 lei including camping. Starting with the 1st of January, until Wednesday, 28th of February, during the SPEED BIRD promo, the passes will be available for 109 lei pass only and 135 lei including camping.
